Maybe mom could "wean" for the day of surgery and then she would not have to
alter the truth. When the surgeon asks has she weaned, she can truthfully
answer "Yes". If the surgeon asks, "how long" she has weaned she can, again,
answer truthfully and say "yesterday".
I don't advocate the telling of lies in any situation but when someone is that
ignorant and bullheaded on an issue there has to be a way around it in order
to preserve the breastfeeding relationship.
