Does anyone have experience or information about a mother having
mononucleosis while nursing?

A mother in my area is successfully nursing her 6 week old baby-- (4th
child--all nursed until they walk). Thinks she may have mono. ENT wants to
put her on steroids and, of course, told her to stop nursing!! We have many
supportive doctors for breastfeeding in my area, but some are still . . .
"lacking". (I'm being very polite tonight) I'll get more information from
her tomorrow, but can find nothing specific in all my great reference books.

Since mono is a self limiting viral infection I can generalize she can still
nurse, have had lots of other moms on steroids for a variety of reasons, who
are still allowed to nurse, BUT I would like some more specific information.
Help and info PLEASE.
Thank you oh great Lactnetters!
