Dear Lactnetters

I have a question about allergies which I'm not sure will belong on Lactnet.
Please feel free to privately e-mail me if it doesn't apply.

What is the probability of an infant being sensitized in utero for food
allergies? What about reactions to the food mother eats? How does the
immune system play into allergic reactions? Do they change over time as the
immune system matures? What is that mechanism? What role does breastfeeding
play?

Didn't somebody recently mention an allergist in Illinois (?) who recommends
very long term exclusive breastfeeding for very allergic children?

Please share information you have, including reference to journal articles
when available.
