Noelle-
It sounds like this woman will need alot of help but from a distance. As
a LLLL I have done most of my helping this way - I often do not ever have
a chance to meet the mothers and babies. Perhaps one of the videos, and
some basic positioning info are the best way to start, without even
suggesting that you need to be there and observe when the baby is
nursing. Sue Jacoby sent me a lovely tape from a California LLL
conference about telephone help with latch-on. This mom needs the same
type of help to start out. Let us hope that the baby is cooperative, not
over medicated and one of the "barracuda" types that will nurse no matter
what. If so it will then be possible to deal with each problem as it
comes up.

When my first was born (24 years ago) no one ever helped me or showed me
what to do at all. I did it all alone with the old blue Womanly Art of
Breastfeeding. This mother at least knows that there are people willing
to help her.

Good luck
