Hi fellow Lactnetters,
    I am helping a mom with an 11-month old preemie.  He was born at 31 weeks
at 2pounds 3 ounces. His apgars were 8 and 9.  He was always on room air but
tube fed for 56 days.  Went home with mom to learn to breastfeed.  She is
still nursing.  Nursing has been a struggle all along.  Perhaps this is a
post-traumatic syndrome?   He screamed everytime she tried to nurse him until
he was about seven months old.  He has always had to be coaxed to nurse.
This is all history.  The new problem is she says he is nipple feeding and
she can't get him on the breast far enough.  She is getting sore due to this
problem.  She just started solids recently  He still doesn't like nursing
very well ie he turns away and sometimes screams unless he's very sleepy.  If
anyone has any preemie experience to share I'd be grateful .  Thanks!
