This is exactly what I experience despite much prenatal ecouragement by the
midwives at the birthing center where I teach. And it's interesting that
moms-to-be who are clients of the docs who own the Center come to class but only
infrequently do Birth Center moms. I've been teaching for eight yrs there and
it's common to have 2 moms at a time. What is also ironic is that so often I
see those moms pp who didn't attend BF classes (I'm in private practice) and
they always say they wished they'd taken my class but felt it was natural and
wouldn't need it. One factor for Birth Center moms, I do realize, is that often
they are having 2nd, and 3rd babies so have experience.

I have felt too and heard from moms that it's (BF class) just one more thing
to do and additional expense. I'd be interested to know how to market
better/encourage moms to attend (I haven't done much of that due to time/family
constraints, but now could spend more time doing so).
