This is so typical the trouble with modern medicine focussing in on one
issue.  The bone density.  But what about the physical pain and emotional
anguish?  Isn't that important too?  Who says that waiting a few months to
wean is irrevocably going to damage this mother's bones?  Really!!! And her
periods will come back even if she does keep breastfeeding, or doesn't the
OB know that? Maybe he doesn't.  We have OB's working up women whose periods
have not come back after 1 year, not knowing that breastfeeding does that.
