A fellow LC called me and asked me to post this to Lactnet. She has seen a
mom whose baby is now 10 days old. Baby dropped from 7.7 to 6.13 at 9
days, and was very lethargic. Mom has no milk. She has been pumping 8-10
times per day and isn't getting any milk at all. She never had any breast
fullness or engorgement. She nursed her first child for two years. WE have
started to formula feed this baby and the baby is now doing fine, but mom
still isn't getting any milk. Her breasts are soft. She is also having very
little bleeding, so we don't think it is retained placenta. Mom has no
history of thyroid disorders or PCOS. What else can be going on? We are
perplexed.
