Dear Jaquie in S. Africa and fellow lactnetters,
  Thank you for your condolence words for our unfathomable grief we are
experiencing in the United States.
  Moms continue to call and are asking if the tragedy has directly affected
my family first. I have started to know many people now who have lost a
brother or daughter or friend, and believe there will be many more in the
coming days.Moms are continuing to call fortunately to get help for
breastfeeding concerns.
   I was teaching nursing students on the maternity unit when I first heard
the news and actually saw the terror unfolding as I went from room to room,
mothers holding their newborns,watching the unbelievable events , barely 50
miles from where the New York city attack was unfolding.  Then, a bomb
scare almost forced evacuation of our hospital, someone not related to the
attack but angry and disrupting the hospital for some reason of anger, but
for awhile not knowing if it was related to the terrorism attacks.
   We now know firsthand what many of you in the world experience daily,
and feel some loss of our freedoms in the US.
   Please say a prayer that this terrorism throughout the world ends. I
feel our help of moms to nurse and nurture their infants is even more
critical than ever. Best wishes to you all.
