Hello,
I am an acupuncturist and herbalist in NYC. Here are several research
studies that support the use of acupuncture not only for low milk supply but
also for engorged and inflamed breasts.

The mechanism to HOW it works is not discussed in these studies, but if
anyone is interested I will post.

lactation. <I>Am J Acupuncture<I> 1996; 24(1):35-45

Researchers in Europe have noticed the positive effects of acupuncture pn
prolactin secretion, which in turn may stimulate an increase in milk
production.

It may help the release and flow of milk when the breasts have been engorged
or inflamed.

Research on acupuncture for low milk production noted that is can be
successful in many cases, except in cases when the mother had poor breast
development.
