Thank you all for your replies, so far.

This mother truly wants to continue breastfeeding,(she breastfed her first
for a year and fought through 3 months of thrush, handled it on her own with
her doctor)she is pumping every 2-3 hours to keep up her supply, but as you
say she is blaming herself. She had been eating tuna 3 times a day,
along with crab legs, shrimp, imitation crab, and salmon. She then read
about the mercury levels and retardation and became very worried.

She is having a hard time giving formula, more than the 4 ounces he used to
take once a day, because she also believes it is full of toxins. I have
been assuring her that her milk is probably not the culprit but that it is
her right to have her feelings validated in whatever way she needs. (A
nurse relative already suggested getting her milk tested so that wasn't news
to her when I mentioned it.)

I will read, thoroughly, everyones thoughts and reply a little later.

Thank you,

Cheryl
