Hi Laura,
Yes, you read right! The Nurses did it again, too! On the babys chart is
an order from the Dr saying NO ABM!!! The mother told them (and it is also
on the chart) that when they decided to feed Allyson (the baby) again, that
she was to be notified ASAP so that she could come down and pump to give
fresh breastmilk. Did they do this? NO! They again gave her ABM. Again
the nurse said that the formula was better than the breastmilk, and that the
mom should just listen to her. Well, this time, mom got really irate. She
called the Dr down and told her (the Dr) infront of the nurse exactly what
the nurse said. Dr was furious. The nurse also insisted that the baby be
given a 50/50 mix of ABM and EBM. Why? Well, even though the baby has had
no feeds in 4 days, her tummy is just not strong enough to go to straight
breastmilk. HEr tummy will go into shock if they go to straight breastmilk.
???????????? I told mom that was a crock of %^*&$ and turns out the Dr.
agreed.
Needlless to say, some heads are really rolling down there, unless the Dr is
all talk and no action, which I hope, is not the case.
Sad, huh?
