I was wondering - Is this mother is not torn between the hormonal changes
and instinctive behaviours that she would like to do and yet comes from a
family or social environment where breastfeeding is unacceptable?

I also wonder about her rejecting the babies because of either the trauma of
the premature delivery or her distrust with her own bodily functions which
may have been magnified thorough her birthing experience.

or Is this mum very emotionally young, knows what she should do but is
rebelling against anyone who she sees as an authority?

or Has this mum been sexually or physically abused and is afraid of her
femininity?

I was wondering if any of these issues are appropriate and if they are what
special psycological (or other specialist insights) could help this mum
resolve the obvious internal dilema that she is experiencing.
