I don't know where latex allergies come form. But I can say that my 18 year
old daughter, who weaned 2 weeks before her sixth birthday is very allergic
to latex. By the way, she didn't start solids until she was past the six
month point and she sin't allergis to bananas. This allergy was discovered
quite by surprise when she was at the orthodontist. Her face and neck
swelled up where the latex gloves had come into contact with her skin. The
following day her whole face was swollen and her eyes were swollen shut.
She will not be able to use latex condoms, and when she is going to have a
blood test or physical we must call ahead and make sure that there are
non-latex gloves availble. She also wears a medic allert bracelette. Even
painting the house with latex based paint irritates her!

I worry every time I put a finger cotted finger into a baby's mouth. I too
have wondered about the health affects of bottle feeding from that point of
view.
