A timely set of questions, Nina -- questions that many organizations are struggling with.

At the 2007 ILCA Conference, the Board of Directors' Issues Forum discussed advertisers in the Conference Exhibit Hall. ILCA is unusual in that it has Code support actually written into its organizational by-laws. But ILCA is not an International [WHO] Code monitoring organization -- it is a professional organization, designed to provide education and professional development in lactation consultancy. Currently, ILCA relies on reports issued by an outside monitor (IBFAN) to determine Code compliance. Their most recent report is from 2004.

So I pose it to you, Lactnetters: how would *you,* trained in lactation consultancy, keep track of corporate mergers, around the globe? What about a company that is "firewalled" from its corporate owners, compliant in its own right with the Code, but owned once-removed by an entity that is not? What about the company that used to be non-compliant, but is now making visible and public attempts to comply? The ILCA Board is examining this issue as we speak, in anticipation of inquiries for the 2008 conference. I'd love someone to give me a black-and-white answer.
