This formula has whey in it ! That's a milk protein. Why would this
even be considered?
Hi Jane,

Although the mom has decided not to use this formula after reading
everything I shared with her about it, I think it's worth responding to your
question. The only answer I can think of is that this person actually values
"tradition" ( her own) over any kind of scientific knowledge. She suggests
making your own whey at home, and that anything you make at home is always
better than anything you can buy and it always safe and healthy. She also told
the mother it was the casein not the whey the baby was reacting to. Then
again this mom( who has never made a full supply) was told never to use
formula. The "traditional foods" person seemed to be just rattling off her
ideas, without actually looking at this mom and baby's actual situation.
Mind-boggling. And I actually wasted hours helping her wade through this
misinformation which seems so obviously "off" to us, so she could make a better
decision.
Update: baby gaining weight fine based on weight check on my scale, every
other scale he gets weighed on is either off, or not being used correctly to
get a true weight, so it was a real concern. Also baby's belly sonogram
was negative, and baby has appt. with pedi GI this week. He mostly refuses to
nurse or vomits afterwards ( mom will not consider not nursing, even for a
time, just to see what happens), vomits sometimes after drinking her
pumped milk and mostly keeps down the elemental AIM. His eczema is as bad as it
has been. Anyone in NYC know a good pediatric dermatologist, who respects
breastfeeding? Is there such a person as a pediatric dermatologist?
Peace,
Judy
