Cheryl,
Well, I was looking very carefully during those opening scenes of
Tarzan to see how they were going to handle the "feeding" issue, and I
didn't notice the baby bottle in the tree house. In fact, I was thrilled
that they didn't say *anything* about how the baby was fed, leading my
family to conclude (loudly, in a packed movie theater) how cool it was that
the gorilla was going to nurse Tarzan, and lucky that she had milk since her
own baby had just died! ;)
I was much more bothered by all the inappropriate animals and animal
behaviors that were shown. I mean, come on Disney, we all know that
ring-tailed lemurs don't live in Africa, that colobine monkeys don't
brachiate, that there isn't anyplace on the continent of Africa where the
rainforest and high cliffs and ocean all come together like that. Sigh.
Not to mention that Tarzan in the classic movies is raised by chimpanzees,
not gorillas (don't know about the book, perhaps gorillas are correct), and
that Tarzan's mother should have had several more offspring by the time
Tarzan was an adult, and that Tarzan shaved every day???? How realistic is
that?
        I know, I know, it's just a cartoon.
