Dear Debbie,
Can you pass on my congratulation to the family involved, especially the
mum. It can be really daunting for a mother to consider breastfeeding her
adopted child and it can be overwhelming for her if the professionals or
breastfeeding volunteers she contacts for assistance are negative (which
unfortunately many are because of the myth that adoptive breastfeeding is
difficult and often unsuccessful). Obviously the mum you helped relactate
was well supported on many fronts and that would have made all the
difference to her so congratulations to you too!

I wanted to share the exciting news that we have successfully induced
lactation with an adopting mother and brought her 7 week old adopting
newborn to the breast w/o significant problem. Milk supply is now the
complete nutrition for the baby who is now 10 weeks old.
