I know several moms who have used Blessed Thistle in conjunction with
Fenugreek, including myself!

Based on my experience and that of other nursing moms, Blessed Thistle in
combination with Fenugreek tends to produce more milk then Fenugreek alone.
3-5 capsules of each 3 times per day is what I take. Fenugreek typically
comes in 610mg capsules, Blessed Thistle in 400+mg capsules. Blessed
Thistle is a mucilaginous plant which contributes to its ability to increase
the quality and quantity of the milk. Much like Marshmallow root, another
herb which is helpful with milk supply.

Some women also find that combining Blesed Thistle with Fengreek counteracts
some of the negative side affects of Fenugreek, namely gassiness in mother
and child.

Subject: BLESSED THISTLE

Though I tend to recommend Feunugreek more often, I have heard that Blessed

Thistle is an excellent galactagogue as well -- I think Dr. Tierona Low Dog

discussed this once... but, what is the dosage? Is it good to use in

combination with Fenugreek? Should neither be used in combo with Reglan or

Domperidone? Thanks, Ann, LLLL, IBCLC
