Hi Kathy,

I would very much hesitate to rely on theories about rare allergic reactions
to a child's own mom's milk and indeed want to look further, either in the
metabolism of the infant or in the milktransfer.
My favorite way to identify oversupply/overactive letdown reflex is to have
mom pump both breasts as complete as possible and then have the baby drink at
the ''empty'' breast. If baby drinks one or both breasts and then falls into
a sound and ''relieved'' sleep I opt for the milktransfer as a cause for the
problems. I would then suggest mom to feed frequent (12+ per 24 hours) and
small feeds and not to change sides too often (like once in a couple of hours
or more, depending on the severity of the symptoms.
