Linda, 
Before finding a tool, I guess I'd want to know *why* you are looking for a tool?  Is it to train nurses in the hospital?  Even though the Via Christi has objective measures, there are limitations.  First, the mother's feelings of how the feed went are likely going to be influenced by the language of whomever is helping her.  Also, suckling isn’t defined, nor is milk transfer.  The PIBBS tool, while designed for premies, is the only tool to my knowledge that measures suck burst cycles, which is imperative to effective feeding.  Assuming the tool is for hospital staff and charting, staff will need to be reminded that these tools don't offer solutions to "fix" problems, just to refer for further help post discharge.
