The advantage to recognizing that pacifiers can cause nipple confusion, is to
help the mother that is struggling to get a good latch, and can't understand
why baby would be reacting that way because "they aren't giving any bottles."
 Just being aware of the potential helps to identify "all artificial nipples"
as a potential cause instead of just bottles, and serves as a reminder to
check and make sure they aren't using a pacifier.

My two cents anyway.  :)
