Am I frustrated.............

Part of my job is to teach childbirth classes. This is a really great
opportunity to give a 20 min presentation on the benefits of breastfeeding.
WELLLLLLL.....today i was reprimanded by the head nurse....it seems one of
my couples (the father of the baby) had told the MD assistant at the 6 week
postpartum checkup that I rammed it down their throats at every turn (not
true) and they felt i was being overzelous.....I suggested to my superior
that perhaps he was feeling bad that his wife would not nurse....the reply
to me was "then I guess you should tone it down because you made them feel
horrible" ......I don't understand this.....if they don't want to
nurse...then don't, why should whatever i say create such a fuss if they
are firmly commited to bottle feeding!!! Do I worry that my talk on formula
preperation and formula feeding (which is in the last class and they did
not attend) is going to somehow make the breast feeders feel
guilty...nooooo....so why is this any different.
BTW....this is also the same man who asked for references on my statements
about breastfeeding benefits (which i gladly supplied the following week)!!

any way now i feel much better :) Lori Peters
