Unfortunately, our local FOX affiliate has not mentioned, last night
(Tuesday) nor Monday night, that there were other issues besides the
breastfeeding and the child not wanting to do so. Last night we were told
that the judge has ordered the mother not to breastfeed and the child will
remain in foster care. Too bad our mothers are not hearing a different kind
of message. They tempt the listener each night with a few beautiful pictures
of mothers nursing babies and saying "we know breast is best but just how
long is too long to breastfeed, find out about a mother......"

Our local radio talk show has been having a field day about this brazen
mother getting her jollies from breastfeeding. They just don't understand.
Thankfully, there are supporters calling in, also, my husband among them
(yea, for him).

I also wonder about 'forcing' a child to breastfeed. I don't think it can be
done very easily. I feel sorry for the boy and how other people are making
him feel about what was so important to him. True, I don't know what is
going on behind the scenes, but I'll just bet that there are those who have
made him feel ashamed of breastfeeding. I know how children can be swayed if
they are made to feel embarrassed. So sad.

Cheryl
