I have found that the handout by the San Diego Breastfeeding Coalition is
quite helpful on the research/ or lack of research on the use of fenugreek.
I give the mom's the limited information and tell them what I have seen in my
practice.  The pediatrician's I work with support our recommendations.  Some
moms choose to use the fenugreek, others do not.  I personally have seen
nothing but very positive increases in breastmilk supply.  Not research, just
experience.
On breastfeeding logs, also experience has shown that it is just another tool
to help reassure a mom/family baby is getting enough to eat, or signal when a
call to us may be needed.  We have found it reduces readmits, dehydration,
and hyperbili.  Yes, I like using this the first week of baby's
life......more for reassurance for the family than anything.
