Hi,

I posted a few days ago about me questioning a doctors order for topical
nifedipine for tx of raynauds. Dr. Hale did agree with my trepidation and
still recommends it orally for the mom. I just listened to a message from
this doctor on my answering machine and basically, we are agreeing to
disagree. She said she would never give a mom oral nifedipine and risk
having moms blood pressure drop when you can just place it topically on the
nipple to directly counter the vasospasms that are occurring. And regarding
the fear of mom not washing it all off, well, that is a fear of any
medication not taken as prescribed.

So . I'm just wondering if y'all are familiar with it also being prescribed
this way and what results you are seeing. I'm stupidly just feeling a
little sick in my stomach from feeling so opposite of her recommendation.

I don't like confrontation! I'm just so thankful that it happened via my
answering machine and that I hadn't been at my desk when she called. But .
now I fear I may lose referrals from this large doctors office.

Maybe I just need to eat lunch. :-)
