This is not about obsession--it is about observation and science. Not all science is allopathic and much good science is based in the realm of holism. It is also about not accepting a behaviour or experience or syptom as normal (or health-supporting) simply b/c it is common (examples would be bottlefeeding, consuming the SAD (standard american diet), medicalized birth, consumption of cow milk and so much more--all of which negatively affect breastfeeding dyads everyday). When osteopaths, chiropractors, massgae therapists, CST's, naturopaths, herbalists, acupuncturists and homeopaths tell me that irregular bowel movements are a sign of poor gut health, I believe them, b/c they study health, not dis-ease. And, my own observations and experience have shown them to be correct as well. It is only the allopaths (and sadly the LCs') who are stating the opposite. But, I will continue to look for more information and will look for more explanation as to the causes for concern.
