I haven't researched the topic of estrogen in soy milk but I will offer some
ideas from my experience.
First, I know mothers who are consuming soy products in place of dairy
in their diets. They are using it in place of all milks, cheeses, ice cream,
and in cooking so it seems like it would be a significant part of their diet.
There has been no problem with their milk supplies.
Secondly, I take natural hormones for osteoporosis. They are made from
soy (estrogen) and wild yam (progesterone). I found when I began using these
there was a small decrease in milk supply, not enough to cause a problem for
the baby. The decrease in milk supply was greater when I took a birth control
pill (Allesse) for this purpose. The natural hormone dosage varies throughout
the month to mimic what normally should happen in my body and when the
estrogen dose is higher for the days at ovulation the milk supply is lower, but
rebounds.
I think the effect of estrogen is doe dependent and what is normally
consumed as regular dietary intake would not be problematic.
Maybe someone with more knowledge about this could respond.
