For those of you with AOL servers, the article response to Baby Talk cover is
posted on their news, and one can vote. I did and had a pleasant surprise
when shown the voting results of 87% were "just fine" with the cover photo. An
LLL friend sent me this link to Vogue magazine with a quite austere looking,
formally dressed mom nursing her toddler.

About a week ago, I was in the hairdressers with my daughter and browsed a
news magazine with an article about upscale NY moms (I can't remember the title
but it was a July issue) and the first photo showed a mom in bed with an older
baby standing and leaning down while nursing; it was adorable and inserted in
the article with very little focus, if I recall. Anyone else see this one?

And on another note, I never realized being an LC would grant me sometimes
celebrity status. LOL Another time at the hairdressers, I had two hairdressers
come over to me to share their breastfeeding stories and ask questions about
breastfeeding that occurred 10-15 yrs earlier. And I recently met a mom while
my daughter was horseback riding who was of Cuban descent who upon learning my
profession, shared not only her breastfeeding history and the support she
received from her Turkish MIL, but her birth histories, as well. She told me she
kept being offered an epidural (a NY City hospital) and she got so angry
after refusing time and time again, that she finally got up out of bed and yelled
at the anesthesiologist to leave her alone. I commented about the power of
birth and breastfeeding experiences and how we women love and need to re-live
them and talk about them many years later.
