Hi All!

Gosh! My intention was not to turn this forum into a discussion about the sexual activities of perimenapausal women although it has been interesting :-) 

My original comment was in response to the post about topical Premarin Cream having an impact on lactation. I wanted to make it clear that the amount of estrogen (even though being applied as a cream) might be sufficient to impact lactation. The dose is sufficient to cause significant changes in other organ systems and should not be considered miniscule. Below in a copied excerpt from Micromedix under Premarin Cream listing. (and this is specific to the cream).

To address the comment about how our attitudes about sexual activity effect the way we handle these issues with clients, hopefully in the same proffessional, caring, loving way that we should always counsel and support mothers!

There is an increased risk of endometrial cancer in a woman with a uterus who uses unopposed estrogens. (5.3)

Estrogen-alone therapy should not be used for the prevention of cardiovascular disease or dementia. (5.2, 5.4)

The Women's Health Initiative (WHI) estrogen-alone substudy reported increased risks of stroke and deep vein thrombosis. (5.2)

The Women's Health Initiative Memory Study (WHIMS) estrogen-alone ancillary study of WHI reported an increased risk of probable dementia in postmenopausal women 65 years of age and older. (5.4)
