Hi All,
Well, heck if the information pamphlet says that when you are on the
mini-pill and breastfeeding and your baby starts taking solids (and eating
them...) that you must use another form of birth control, it must be right!
It is in writing after all! :D <BIG Grin!?>

Let's be realistic here. Someone writing the pamphlet got it all wrong. I
know of many moms who are on the mini-pill and are no longer BF, and they do
not have to use another form of BC. If the rationalization is that as long
as you are BF you can not get pregnant, then why are they putting women on
the m-p?

When a BF mom on the mini-pill adds solids to her baby's diet, she does not
need to use another form of BC. The reason she is on the mini-pill is to
not get pregnant and because the combo pills will mess with her milk supply.
Of course, she needs to understand that (according to what I remember) the
mini-pill is not quite as effective as the combo pill (a difference of what,
1-2%? someone correct me here if I am wrong) and that to maintain maximum
protection, she must take it according to the directions.

This is the first time I have ever heard of having to take MORE birth
control because the BC you are on is less effective when your baby begins
solids...
