There are quite a few reasons a baby may suck with the mouth open: minor 
SI issues, low muscle tone, stuffy nose or small nasal openings (partial 
choanal atresia), difficulty swallowing (even saliva) and needing to let 
it drool out during sucking. Treatment depends on the cause, and we 
might not want to treat at all if it's a compensation.
