You ask if there are different signs and symptoms for soy allergy
compared to dairy allergy. I have worked with lots of moms whose babies have had
allergies to various foods, like dairy, soy, corn, tomatoes, decaffeinated
coffee (a chemical left over from the decaffeination process), etc. I find that
there are quite a few symptoms that can indicate a food allergy, but they can
be present no matter which food is the problem. Thankfully, a baby doesn't
usually have *all* the possible symptoms, but an allergy to any food can bring
on any symptom(s). Is that clear? I think I'm trying to say that I haven't
seen any particular food have any particular sympton. Possible symptoms of food
allergy include: frequent spitting up, throwing up large amounts, long spells
of gassiness with or without vomiting/spitting up, nasal congestion--either
constant or coming on during the feeding, skin rash, green stools, blood in
stool, stool unusual color or consistency, screaming/crying spells that don't
respond to parental comforting, frequent infections, and possibly some others
that aren't coming to mind right now.
       Hope that helps.
