Hi all,
Here is an update on the mother with Lupus I am consulting. Baby happily goes
to breast even when no milk in the breast. I showed her the SNS but Mom not
comfortable with this approach. Mom prefers BF or pumping and feeding EBM in
a bottle or formula in a bottle when necessary. Current problem is Mom's
supply is LOW. At night she really has no milk (BF or pumping). One recent
feeding consisted of 1 1/2 oz. EBM plus 2 oz. formula plus BF on both
breast.Occasionally, baby is satisfied with only breast but mom not
consistent with offering breast although she is getting better. Today she
offered it 5 x already. Here are the reason's she might have a low supply:
   1. First 3 weeks of terrible BF management (baby lost weight supplemented
and mom pumped minimally)
   2. Large amount of stress - baby in hospital at 3 weeks for blood
transfusion and other health concerns
   3. Mother got mastitis
   4. Mother has Lupus and is easily fatigued plus just found out she is
anemic (which may be related to a Lupus flare up).
5.Mom not double pumping(single but with a Classic) and says she has no
more $ to spend on another kit.

I have told her about Reglan and she thinks the OB will call in a script
today. She tried fenugreek but felt like it changed the smell and taste of
the BM and baby didn't like it even though she said it helped her supply a
little she stopped taking it. If her Lupus is flaring up or even if she is
just anemic, will this minimize the effect of the Reglan? Will the Lupus
prevent her from ever creating a full supply? Has anyone worked with a
Breastfeeding mother with Lupus?
