Hi Andrea,
you write;
>>Your comments disturb me greatly, especially with your not-so-subtle slam on
LLL.  <<
I'm sorry but I don't understand your interpretation of my comments as a slam
against LLL. My comments were questioning one small portion of the
requirements for an LC and certainly were not made to reflect on LLL in
general. If Christine's understanding of the reqs are factual (and that is
really what I'm questioning here) than any LLL leader who has clocked 5 yrs
of counseling can sit for the exam. What if you are a leader who answers
only a couple of telephone calls/mth and conducts a monthly LLL meeting. Even
over 5yrs. I don't believe that it is enough experience to earn the title LC.
And what about the LLL leaders who have clocked countless hours over those 5
years, in a variety of settings......How *equitable* is that and more
importantly how do we know the difference when making referrals?
you also state;
>>I've seen far too many "RN, IBCLC" types who lack counseling skills and who
lack
the ability (or knowledge base) to assist mothers with babies older than just
a
few days. I've heard of terrible information being given out by "RN, IBCLCs."

I am sure that there are many RNs who have taken the exam by counting hours
that
were not really one-to-one hours. <<

That may very well be the case but it is straying from the point. Do 2 wrongs
make a right? It is also insulting as I *purposefully* did not and would not
make general derogatory comments about LLL prepared LCs as you have done
above with RN/IBClCs.
I also believe that all of your comments were personal in nature and should
have been addressed to me directly via private email and not to the entire
group but since you did, I feel that I must respond the the *list* as well.
