Hi all,
Before I get into my main comment, I want to thank all of you present
and past. I had an unusal call from a mother who was being intimadated
by a surgeon and the references I had here (I am the AAPL for KY) did
not have a single mention. I went into the archives and found out what
the established procedure in this case was and WHY. Thank you for this
wonderful resource.
On the 10 day separation, I am personally against it and agree with
the posts that offer options for the mother to consider. Recently our
group had a new mom that I questioned her commitment to bf. She ended up
delivering prematurely with complications (hers not baby) pumped and bf
and co sleeping and is going on a cruise - with baby and a young adult
relative to help with baby. It really surprized me, so you can't
pre-judge women in your mind. Help this mother in any way you can to
find a workable option that benefits both her and baby. One of the
important aspects to present to the mom is, why is she still bf and does
she consider that important (must since she is still bf) and how
important that must be to the baby. This is just my .02 worth.

Leslie in Vine Grove KY where my flowers are in bloom but it isn't warm
enough to sit out and enjoy them!
