I received a call from a mom who was wondering about the effect of Enalapril
on her milk supply. I think there are a lot of factors in this mom's life
that could be contributing to her low milk supply but she wants to check-out
this drug just in case. It wasn't listed in Chemical Agents and Breast Milk
and I don't have Dr. Hale's book, though I'm very interested in finding the
particulars about it so that I can locate it. She's been taking Enalapril for
the last 1 and a half months for her heart though she has noticed her milk
supply dropping since September. Her baby was a premie born 4 months
ago(corrected age 7 wks.) and she's been struggling with nursing since day 1.
Do any of you have any literature about the effects of Enalapril on a milk
supply? All I could find was that the AAP considers it usually compatible
with BF but nothing was listed under Reported Sign or Sympton in Infant or
Effect on Lactation.
