Loretta,
We don't know the nature or personality of the OB
who is giving your committee problems about the policy
statement re: coercing women to bf. Right now there is
a stand off, not real communication.
Seems that the first priority is to find a way to begin
a conversation. What is he or she worried about?
Some of the suggestions over the last few days have included,
trying to figure out what is really his or her concern or
reason for such a strong reaction,
having a bf supportive doctor speak with him or her, and
using humor to begin to break down the defenses to begin the
"bf is a health choice not a lifestyle choice" conversation.
Do you have a sense of which of these approaches would work
best for starters?
Beprepared for the conversation to take time, but it sounds
like if you can get it started, it will be worthwhile and fruitful.
Keep us posted.
