Hello Rose,

I did in no way take it as disrespectful; contacting Marsha could have been
the next, wise step, after making a quick inventory here. This suggestion
(asking Marsha) could have been posted here in a friendly way to get you on
track. In fact, I think it is a compliment to the author when you say that
you so much appreciate the text, that you would like to make it more widely
available, especially for those who are not as well able to read more
difficult texts as we are here. Just this last weekend, I read the original
in English (there is also a Dutch translation), and I think someday I might
have come up with your idea, because I would so much love more people to
know why it is so important to not give the first bottle unjudiciously. As
Marsha is indeed a member of Lactnet, it could also have been left up to her
to contact you personally on or off list; I reckon she's very well able to
stand up for her 'product'. I read your post as a question, to find out if
'simplifying' had already been done.
By the way... this Dr. Jay Gordon site... how did the article get there...?
I noticed it is not exactly the same as the article I have in my files
(which is a little more elaborate).
I definitely see no reason in your post to think you are on the verge of
violating the Code of Ethics.
I would like to suggest we all remain kind to one another: let's start with
faith in eachothers good intentions.

Kindly,

Marianne Vanderveen, Netherlands

Subject: [LACTNET] apology

I was told my an individual on the list the following
"Don't you think you should first contact Marsha Walker to obtain her
permission to "rewrite" Just One Bottle? As you are a member of LACTNET,
her
address is available to you. This article has been around for a long time.
Your
post on LACTNET comes across as somewhat disrespectful to Marsha.
Perhaps instead of posting for all to see, you might have contacted her,
first.
Also, aren't you concerned about violating the IBLCE Code of Ethics for not
recognizing copyright status? "
As I just responded
I can assure you I meant no disrespect to Marsha or intended to violate
copyright laws - I merely wondered if there was anything at a lower
reading level.
I had no idea that my post could be taken in this manner and if anyone else
saw it as disrespectful I do apologize.
