Although there have not been any cases of corn syrup caused botulism
in infants, spores have been found in corn syrup and it is a
theoretical risk factor. See references below.

You might be interested to know that we had an exclusively breastfed
infant who was diagnosed with botulism. It was discovered that they
had recebtly travelled to an area in the Sacramento Valley in
California, USA where there are areas with high levels of botulinum in
the soil. They believe the infant was exposed while travelling in a
dusty, windy farm area. The infection was quickly identified (luckily)
