Hi all,

Update on mom w/ severely inverted nipples. She is now day 3 after a planned
C/Section -- no labor. Her milk is IN...breasts huge, warm, very heavy and
firm. Not rock hard -- praise the Lord! Last night she was able to pump and
one time got enough to barely see in the bottom of the bottle from her left
side (her "good" side). So at least we know there are some intact &
functioning ducts on that side. I was able to hand express a couple of drops
this morning. We put her on the biggest (30mm) flange, but she still is
unable to go above halfway between minimum and medium on the Lactina -- just
too painful as the nipple tissue is being stretched. After pumping about 10
minutes we had 4 drops. I counted. I did ask some questions of one of her
OBs whose been around awhile. He looked completely blank....apparently the
breasts aren't included in medical education for obstetricians. Got baby
latched on briefly -- first w/ a shield, and then without!! She did some
sustained suckling for about 4 or 5 minutes before coming off. Didn't hear
swallowing, but at least she was on. Nothing coming from right breast at all
(nipple more deeply inverted) so far. We've got one more day.... Thanks for
your help!
