Regina,

I wanted to tell you that I couldn't agree more with all your points. I think
WIC LC's have such an important job because they do have access to those
mom's who are breastfeeding beyond the hospital stage, and acess to LC's for
free.

Another thing I wanted to tell the list, and I think this is wonderful... Is that
my pediatrician's office employees a full time IBCLC!! I love it!! I would love
her job! And I wish other Pediatrician's offices would get on board and hire
IBCLC's also, unfortunately this is the only practice I have ever heard of that
has an IBCLC on staff! And, the best part is, I believe her services are part of
the services provided by the practice, in others words, provided at no charge
to the patient- or at least the charge is billed to the insurance company.

As far as duration rates are concerned in the US, I think having more access
to LC's outside the hospital is very important! And what better way than
having an LC in the pediatrician's office! Certainly I believe hospital LC's are
vital to breastfeeding initiation!

Jamie Huddleston, IBCLC
