Dear Kate,

I would not think that it is imperative that this child eat solid foods,
especially if he is growing well, on the same curve for growth, and is
normal developmentally. How, I wonder, would they MAKE the child eat
solids? Some babies who are allergic may regulate their own intake as to
what they can tolerate. Some are just picky eaters. I don't know, but I
think that the mother should breastfeed as much as the child wants, offering
but not pushing solids ( my kids could not keep their hands OUT of my
plate)... and watch him carefully. Also, have they tested this child for
Cystic Fibrosis? The excessive sweating makes me wonder...
