Mary,

At 4 mos. pp mothers who've practiced "early & often" in the early weeks have a significantly higher supply than those who didn't practice "early & often"........(this information is gleaned from a session w/ Karen Cadwell)

I think it's just important to reiterate...an empty breast fills much faster than a full or half full one....the more often the milk is removed, the faster the milk is replaced...explain if you can, the milk cell receptor site theory..it seems to resonate w/ HCPs....

I haven't been reading Lactnet for a looong time; very busy at home and
work. But this issue is aggravating me and I need to vent and perhaps
will receive some support and feedback.
The majority of calls I receive concern "decreased" milk supply or "not
enough milk.' In many cases, the ladies are not breastfeeding/pumping
often enough, long enough or both. And of course, everyone wants the
"magic pill." Sadly, some practitioners here will give Reglan at the
drop of a hat and without reference to the other issues. Sometimes I am
contacted; sometimes not.
I'm trying to think of a diplomatic way to get the entire concept
across.
Ideas?
