I live in the Cleveland, Ohio area not far from the National Inventors
Hall of Fame located in Akron, Ohio. There was an article in the
newspaper today talking about how there are only 4 women among the 141
members of the Hall. Two of these women are Elizabeth Hazen and Rachel
Brown who developed "the antifungal drug Nystatin". It was approved by
the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) in 1954 and they received the
patent on it three years later.

Marion Donovan patented the original disposable diaper, called the
Boater, in 1951.

Ann Moore patented the "Snugli" baby carrier in 1969, which she modeled
after the slings she saw women carrying their babies in during her stint
as a pediatric nurse with the Peace Corps in Togo, Africa, during the
early 1960's.
