 Hi Jeanette and all,

I refer to your statement:

Any author worth their salt would have researched the topic, spoken to
lactation experts and learned that NONE of us recommend only ONE way to do
ANYTHING!

How sad that as true as that might have been, I find that it is no longer.
I think that it is unfortunate that with the incredible increase in our
numbers, and the many new IBCLC's who have managed to pass our entry-level
exam, I find that there are more and more IBCLC's doing just that - making
blanket statements and using just one way to show a new mom how to
breastfeed her baby. I fear that this comes from a lack of clinical
experience. It comes from some HCP's who never really got it right - and
ALWAYS did things a certain way. Because some of them never had to do things
NEW ways, and never had to actually learn from working closely with IBCLCs
they may continue to do what they always did, just with the IBCLC credential
following their other initials.

What a pity. Ultimately we just may get misrepresented from all these
lactation "experts".

Respectfully,
Ellen Shein,
Tel AViv
