The weight is not that bad, but could be better.  Slow and steady is
okay and the pediatrician need not take a fit.  However, the baby is
maybe getting relatively low fat milk by nursing only for the first
few minutes.

I would suggest improving the latch (can *always* improve), plus using
breast compression once the baby no longer actually drinks
(open-pause-close type of suck).  The breast compression is kept up
until the baby no longer drinks, and then the mother should switch
sides, and repeat.  And then switch again.  I have had several babies
recently not only slowly gaining, but actually gaining very well once
this technique is begun.
