Thanks for all the input so far.
I just want to add/clarify a couple of things.

I know that she can most likely supply enough milk with one breast. She
knows that too. She knows that each breast will produce its own amount--and
that that amount can easily vary from day to day.  I think that she
is "just" worried that she had a good supply on that left side for a year
with her first child--and now it is dwindling at a month.

She had the idea to pump--to try to stimulate the supply. It was not my
suggestion--not when the baby apparently nurses well and frequently. I
might only suggest that if he did not and was not gaining weight.

I think that our main question is *why* this might be happening--and so
much sooner this time. I don't want to miss something that might be
correctable or significant.
