This MD is ignorant of the whole point of solids as defined by WHO/UNICEF,  
the AAP, etc. Solids introduced after 6 months of exclusive breastfeeding are  
called Complementary Feeds". They are to complement continued breastfeeding, 
not  arbitrarily replace it. The change should be gradual over months. Since 
human  milk has rapid digestibility ( like "clear liquids" classification 
pre-surgery,  for example) it would seem the faith that more food replacing it will 
increase  gut transit is misplaced. Fruit juices especially may lead to more 
gas, not  necessarily more stooling. Water would probably be better than juices 
for a  number of reasons. Craniosacral work can also help with gut function 
via   the Vagus nerve.
