CNN TalkBack Live (host Arthel Neville) carried a story yesterday on a New
Hampshire mom who was asked to leave a swimming pool while breastfeeding her
4 month old. They've already got the transcript on the web:
http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0208/02/tl.00.html. The name of the woman
breastfeeding is Lauralee David. Apparently there has already been a
protest/nurse-in. Perhaps others have more details, but the CNN show mostly
centred around getting people's opinions about this.

You can send email feedback from the main TalkBack Live page,
http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/TalkBack/index.html.

Here's the wording of their email poll, "Do you think breast-feeding should
be outlawed in public?" - !!!

Don't read the transcript while your children are sleeping, because they
might be woken up by your shrieking. (Were you aware that one of the chief
dangers of breastfeeding in the pool is that someone might jump on your
baby? This is why it should be against the law everywhere.)

A propos of this story, in the next week our breastfeeding advocacy group
will be putting our "breastfeeding at pools" report on our website, in which
we deal fatal blows to all the ridiculous (and stereotypical) objections
people have to breastfeeding in public, particularly in/at swimming pools.
Some chapters: "That's Icky, You're Getting My Swimming Water Dirty", "Do
You Have To Do That *Here*?", and "The Pool Water Will Curdle Your Milk".
Witty retorts are discussed, such as "Did You Wash Your Bum After Your Last
BM?" (yes, the CDC is actually worried about this; please see CDC Healthy
Swimming Project 2002 ) and "Would You Like a Towel To Cover Your Head?".
(kidding, except for the CDC part)

Have a look at http://www.mediaworkswest.com/BACE/index.html next week for
full (serious version of the) report.

Now, I wish we could get this report to and make contact with Lauralee David
and/or the women who came out in support of her. Does anyone have any
contact info?
